More information on the Maremma Sheepdog:

Despite their large size, Maremma can be good companion dogs in areas with adequate open space. Centuries of breeding the dogs to be gentle with lambs but fiercely protective of their flock has created a breed that will bond to families and show a calm, intelligent disposition. However, the dogs may display hostility towards outsiders and they are not suitable companion dogs for urban areas due to their large size and need for open space. Some words to describe the Abruzzenhund could be friendly, smart and alert. They can also learn commands easily, however when training, you should vary the types of drills so your dog doesn’t become bored. The Abruzzenhund gets along well with children and they make good household pets.

Conch is a good-looking Maremma Sheepdog! He is so smart and sweet, and we just love him! He loves people, is very affectionate, and has an excellent recall. He does well with chickens, guineas, sheep, and other farm animals. He also gets along well with our cats and other dogs.

He is trustworthy for such a young dog at this stage. He naps with the big dogs, strolls around, patrols, and lives harmoniously with every animal and human.

Conch is crate trained and is potty trained to a doggy door. He comes inside and goes out as he pleases. He has also started leash training. He has taken several road trips (near and far) and travels like a champ. He has the best manners and doesn’t jump up on people. He’s like an old soul in a young body.
